529 Plan Asset Total Soars

Assets in 529 college savings plans increased to $43 billion at the end of the second quarter, up from $26 billion a year earlier.[@@]

The College Savings Foundation, Washington, has published those figures in a report based on data from Financial Research Corp., Boston.

FRC estimates net new 529 plan sales increased to $2.9 billion in the second quarter, up from $2.4 billion for the comparable quarter in 2003.
