U.S. bank holding companies are reporting modest growth in 2003 investment fee income.[@@]

The total increased to $42 billion, up 7% from the total for 2002, according to Michael White Associates, Radnor, Pa.

About 57% of the bank holding companies that the research firm tracks generated investment fee income in 2003.

The biggest banks, those with more than $10 billion in assets, generated $39 billion in investment fee income, or 92% of all bank holding company investment fee income, Michael White reports.
