NU Online News Service, Nov. 4, 2003, 12:13 p.m. EST – Aon Corp., Chicago, managed to increase benefits consulting revenue during the third quarter despite the weakness of the economy.

The insurance broker is reporting $115 million in net income for the quarter on $2.4 billion in revenue, compared with $128 million in net income on $2.2 billion in revenue for the third quarter of 2002.

Revenue at the unit that handles benefits, compensation, management and communications consulting increased 11%, to $214 million. But Aon notes that, excluding factors such as acquisitions and fluctuations in currency exchange rates, “organic” revenue growth at the unit was only 3%.
