Humana Reports 19% Increase In Net Income

NU Online News Service, Oct. 27, 2003, 4:46 p.m. EST – Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., says increased profits at its commercial and TriCare operations helped it increase third quarter net income 19%.

The managed care company is reporting $62 million in net income for the latest quarter on $3.1 billion in revenue, up from $52 million in net income on $2.8 billion in revenue for the third quarter of 2002.

The company ended the quarter providing or administering medical coverage for 6.6 million people, about as many people as it covered a year earlier.

Average commercial premium revenue per fully insured commercial member increased 14%, to $674.
