NU Online News Service, Jan. 22, 9:51 a.m. – Conseco Inc., Carmel, Ind., says it could file a reorganization plan with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Chicago by Jan. 31.

Conseco filed for protection from creditors in December 2002. The company recently announced that it has reached a preliminary agreement with its bondholders and bank lenders about how to restructure its debt load.

The committee representing Conseco’s unsecured creditors also agrees with Conseco’s decision to file the reorganization plan, Conseco says.
