NU Online News Service, Dec. 4, 10:13 a.m. – The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, says Olympic gold medal winner Bill Johnson will participate in its Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge, Colo., Dec. 9-14.

Johnson, the first American to win the Olympic gold medal in men’s downhill skiing at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, suffered a traumatic brain injury in March 2001 while trying out for the 2002 Olympic ski team at age 40.

The Hartford Ski Spectacular, for people with physical disabilities, is in its 15th year under the company’s sponsorship. It is conducted by Disabled Sports USA, Rockville, Md., a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee.
