Kaiser Income Down, Revenues Up

NU Online News Service, 4:20 p.m. – Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Oakland, Calif., and their subsidiaries report net income of $137 million and operating income of $136 million on operating revenues of $5.7 billion for the third quarter of 2002. That is in contrast to $198 million in net income and operating income of $218 million on operating revenues of $4.9 billion in the third quarter of last year.

Year-to-date, through Sept. 30, 2002, Kaiser reports net income of $595 million and operating income of $592 million on operating revenues of $16.7 billion. During the same period last year, net income was $494 million and operating income $516 million on operating revenues of $14.7 billion.

Membership as of September 30 was 8.4 million, Kaiser says.
