NU Online News Service, June 12, 4:31 p.m. – The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, has promoted John Giamalis to treasurer.

Giamalis, who previously was Hartford’s controller, succeeds Richard Garrett, who is retiring after 25 years with the company.

David Johnson will continue to be Hartford’s chief financial officer.

Giamalis, the new treasurer, began working for Hartford in 1997. Earlier, he worked as an auditor at Deloitte & Touche.

Giamalis has a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in accounting from West Virginia University. He holds the certified public accountant professional designation.

Hartford has also hired Robert Price, formerly head of the CitiInsurance unit at Citigroup Inc., New York, to be controller.

Price has also been a corporate controller at Aetna Inc., Hartford; a chief financial officer of Aetna’s Aetna International unit; and a partner at Price Waterhouse.

Price has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University. Like Giamalis, he holds the CPA designation.
