NU Online News Service, April 30, 11:18 a.m. – Sierra Health Services Inc., Las Vegas, is reporting $7.4 million in net income for the first quarter on $349 million in revenue, up from $3.2 million in net income on $303 million in revenue for the first quarter of 2001.
Sierra provided or administered major medical coverage for 1.3 million people at the end of the quarter, up from 1.2 million people a year earlier.
Average premium revenue per insured member increased 25%, to $689, in part because the company dropped some poorly performing operations in Texas.
