NU Online News Service, March 26, 10:38 a.m. – The Phoenix Companies Inc., Hartford, has named Coleman D. Ross executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Ross replaces David Searfoss, who will now become an executive vice president for financial strategy. Searfoss is “consulting on strategic investments and financial issues,” Phoenix says.

Ross will report to Dona Young, the president of Phoenix.

For the past two years, Ross was CFO of the Trenwick Group Ltd., an insurer and reinsurer with operations in the United States, Bermuda and London.

Before joining Trenwick, Ross was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P., New York, where he was chairman and managing partner of the firm’s insurance practice. Earlier in his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ross served on the Phoenix account.

Ross has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
