NU Online News Service, Feb. 14, 1:51 p.m. – Mid-Atlantic Medical Services Inc., Rockville, Md., is reporting $17 million in net income for the fourth quarter of 2001 on $473 million in revenue, up from $13 million in net income on $385 million in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2000.
The managed care company ended 2001 providing or administering major medical coverage for 1.8 million people, about as many as it covered at the end of 2000.
Average revenue per plan member increased 22%, to $263.
Average commercial health premiums per member increased about 12%, Mid-Atlantic says.
