StanCorp Reports Higher 4th Quarter Net Income

NU Online News Service, Jan. 31, 10:40 a.m. – StanCorp Financial Group Inc., Portland, Ore., is reporting $28 million in net income for the fourth quarter of 2001 on $408 million in revenue, up from $18 million in net income on $396 million in net income for the fourth quarter of 2000.

StanCorp, the parent company of Standard Insurance Company, a company that sells group disability insurance and other employee benefits, increased its operating income to $28 million for the quarter, from $25 million quarter.

Operating results include $214,000 in investment losses for the latest quarter and $5.8 million in investment losses for the fourth quarter of 2000.
