NU Online News Service, Dec. 6, 11:52 a.m. – Conseco Inc., Carmel, Ind., says it bought back $110 million in public debt securities in November.

Conseco was originally supposed to pay off those debts in 2002.

Some analysts have questioned whether the insurance and consumer finance company will have enough cash to pay off debts due in 2002, but Conseco says it has already bought back $232 million of the $864 million in public debt securities with 2002 maturities.
