Social Security Fixes Glitch That Shuttered Offices, Phone Service

The IT issue that affected personalized services for several hours on Friday has been resolved, the Social Security Administration announced on its website.

It was widely reported that a technology problem on Friday forced the SSA to close offices and disrupted online services.

The government agency cited a hardware issue, CBS News reported.

Reports of people being unable to access their My Social Security accounts surged starting Friday morning and continued into the afternoon, CBS News reported, citing DownDetector.com.

SSA posted on X Friday that it was experiencing difficulties “providing personalized services,” and for more information to visit its Office Closings and Emergencies page.
