RBC Wealth Management added a Columbus, Ohio-based advisor team that left UBS, where it managed about $1.1 billion in client assets, the RBC Capital Markets division said Friday.

The addition of James, Ford & Duble Wealth Partners is part of RBC’s effort to ramp up its presence in the Great Lakes region, it said, noting the new office in Columbus is RBC Wealth Management’s third location in Ohio, following Cleveland and Toledo.

The team includes William James II, managing director — financial advisor and Columbus branch director; Patrick Ford, senior vice president — financial advisor; Anastasia Duble, vice president — financial advisor; Molly Montgomery, senior business associate; Mary Ann Abbott, client associate; and Bailey Parson, branch service manager — client associate.

RBC Wealth Management has $515 billion in total client assets with over 2,100 financial advisors operating in 187 locations in 42 states, it said.

UBS on Tuesday declined to comment.

But the wirehouse on Tuesday announced that a four-person advisor team, BG Wealth Management, will join in Pepper Pike, Ohio, about two hours from Columbus.

“The team manages $640 million in invested client assets with a focus on providing tailored investment strategies and comprehensive wealth management advice,” according to UBS.

“The team’s industry experience and dedication to their clients will be a great addition to our business, and we look forward to having them help us continue to expand our client offering in this key market,” Deb Junior, Pepper Pike Market Director at UBS Wealth Management USA, said in a statement.

The team is led by advisor Charlie Bergman, who has more than 25 years of investment management experience helping clients pursue their financial objectives by managing defined strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, portfolios and third-party investment strategies, according to UBS.

Before joining UBS, Bergman was part of the KSB Group at Merrill Lynch and an advisor with Morgan Stanley, UBS said. The team is also joined by client associates Lisa Moavero and Alona Porat.
