To kick off Women’s History Month, Morningstar highlighted female portfolio managers who have built impressive careers.
They don’t have a lot of company, as women continue to be severely underrepresented in portfolio management in the U.S.
Last year, a Morningstar study found that women’s representation in portfolio management has come mainly through mixed-gender teams. Sole female managers and all-female teams are rare, just 2% of management teams in the U.S. versus 70% for all-male teams.
Morningstar noted that in other countries and regions, particularly smaller fund markets like China, female managers have higher representation.
