RBC Wealth Management says it has recruited a team in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, from Merrill Lynch with about $230 million in client assets. Nearing Wealth Management Group includes advisors Gordon Nearing, CFP, CIMA, CPWA, and Pamela Dallas.

“We decided to make the move to RBC Wealth Management because of its strong reputation for acting with integrity, corporate responsibility and overall fiscal stewardship,” according to Nearing.

He has close to 40 years in the business and started work as an advisor at E.F. Hutton. Later, he worked for Prudential Securities, Legg Mason and Wachovia and then joined Merrill in 2009.

Dallas, associate vice president, cut her teeth as an advisor by joining Merrill three years ago.

“We are proud to welcome the Nearing Wealth Management Group to our rapidly growing Florida complex,” according to Kirstin Turner, director of the Florida complex. “Gordon, Pamela and the team take pride in developing deep client relationships that span generations, and develop comprehensive wealth management strategies to help them navigate throughout their lives.”

Ameriprise Financial says it has added the father-daughter team Neil and Trisha Abney of Louisville, Kentucky, from Merrill Lynch to its employee channel. The duo works with about $100 million of assets and does work as Abney, Abney & Associates.

Their practice continues the legacy of Neil’s mom and Trisha’s grandmother, Margaret Turley, who went into the business 1981.

Neil started his career in 1999 at J.C. Bradford and was with Merrill Lynch since 2009. Trisha joined her father at Merrill in 2014.

“One of my greatest accomplishments is having my daughter join me as a third-generation advisor. More recently, we are blown away by our clients’ positive response to our move to Ameriprise,” Neil said in a statement.

“We’re humbled by their support. Our book of business is interwoven friends, families and their referrals. Our clients are our friends,” he explained. “We looked long and hard at several firms and Ameriprise came out on top.”
