Raymond James welcomed a $203 million family team of advisors from Morgan Stanley to its employee channel: Thomas O’Neill, Jessica O’Neill, CFP, and Thomas O’Neill Jr., who are based in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, according to Tom Galvin, Northeast regional director for Raymond James & Associates.

“We were attracted to Raymond James because of the firm’s culture, technology offerings, and the emphasis on wealth management,” said Thomas O’Neill, senior vice president of investments, in a statement. “The tenure and retention rate of the advisors at Raymond James was another positive indication of the culture at the firm.”

He has more than 35 years of industry experience, including time at Merrill Lynch, A.G. Edwards, UBS and Morgan Stanley. Daughter Jessica began career as an advisor in 2014, while Tom Jr. started in 2016.

“I am pleased to welcome Tom, Jessica and Tom Jr. to the firm, as Raymond James continues strategic expansion in the Northeast,” explained Galvin. “We’re proud that Raymond James’ unique culture and advisor support continue to resonate with and attract outstanding advisory teams like O’Neill Wealth Management.”

Meanwhile, a team with $99 million in assets moved to Ameriprise Financial’s franchise channel in Utah. Salt City Financial Group includes Steven Lundquist and son Ryan Lundquist, as well as Martin Vanamen; all three used to be affiliated Centaurus Financial.

“We’ve known about the Ameriprise brand for a while, and felt that the firm provided a better opportunity to serve our clients,” according to Steven. “Ameriprise has a vast array of insights and tools to help people in all circumstances. In particular, we are excited about the visual tools that give people a comprehensive picture of where they are in reaching their goals.”

Developments at RBC

RBC Wealth Management says Felipe Blanco has joined its Miami branch; he used to be Merrill Lynch, where he had some $213 million in assets, according to Kirstin Turner, director of the Florida complex. Blanco has been in the business for 15 years.

“After careful consideration, I made the decision to join RBC Wealth Management in Miami because of the firm’s commitment to growing in the U.S., as well as its commitment to helping me grow my business,” said Blanco, in a statement.

“Felipe has an outstanding reputation for individual integrity and responsible care of his clients’ assets” Turner explained. “He focuses on providing the best possible client service and takes the time to listen to clients and develop strategies to best meet their goals.”

In other news, RBC Wealth has launched its first national advertising campaign, which focuses on the theme, “Strengthening your financial security.”

“We are one of the strongest, most stable and most trustworthy brands in financial services,” according to CEO Michael Armstrong. “We have the best advisors in the business and a great story to tell, but we haven’t told it. It’s time for more people to get to know us.”

“Our research has confirmed that trust and financial security are among the most important factors to U.S. investors,” said Sean Kellenberger, head of brand, marketing and digital strategies at RBC Wealth Management-U.S., in a statement “This campaign addresses those needs with direct language and creates an important emotional connection as well.”

The campaign also highlights RBC Wealth’s partnership with City National Bank. It will focus on reaching investors in New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Minneapolis/St. Paul, Los Angeles and Dallas-Ft. Worth.

“This campaign is an investment not only in our brand, but also in the businesses of more than 1,800 financial advisors across the country,” said Tom Sagissor, president of RBC Wealth Management-U.S, in a statement.

RBC says its wealth operations recently expanded into Tennessee and Missouri.
