Insurers are still paying commissions to agents and brokers who sell Medicare supplement (Medigap) insurance policies and Medicare Advantage plans.

The National Association of Health Underwriters will help producers participate in the Medicare plan market later this year, by working with the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance to offer a day of free, in-person Medicare plan workshops.

NAHU also runs an online Medicare certification classs.

NAHU and AAMSI will offer the in-person workshops in June, in St. Louis, in conjunction with AAMSI’s next conference, AAMSI says.

Another industry group, the Society of Certified Senior Advisors, will also help organize the workshop program, AAMSI.

AAMSI says it expects the event to offer about 50 workshops on topics such as the Medicare supplement insurance market, the Medicare Advantage market, senior insurance and insurance marketing.
