RBC Wealth Management has tapped a Morgan Stanley branch executive to lead its Chicago complex: Justin Ferdula, a certified financial planner, will be responsible for six branches and more than 60 financial advisors.

Ferdula has 14 years of industry experience and previously led Morgan Stanley’s Rockefeller Center branch. He joined the industry in 2002 as a financial advisor.

As Chicago complex director, Ferdula will oversee the Chicago, Lakeshore, North Shore, Oakbrook, Orland Park and Indianapolis offices.

In other news, RBC says its operations now include Tonya Nichols, who joined the firm in Portland, Oregon, from Robert W. Baird.

At Baird, Nichols had $122 million in assets under administration and $1 million in yearly fees and commissions. Also moving to RBC is Carolynn Ashton, a senior client associate.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tonya to RBC Wealth Management,” said Richard Sorenson, director of the Portland complex, in a statement. “She provides a vast amount of industry knowledge, along with a fresh perspective and high energy, which enables her to best serve the needs of her clients.”

Nichols started out in the business in 2005 at Ameriprise and later moved to Bank of America and Merrill Lynch. In 2012, she joined Baird.

At RBC Wealth Management, she is one of about 1,800 advisors. The group has nearly $295 million in total client assets and about 200 offices in the U.S.

In late May, Kevin Roberts moved to RBC from Morgan Stanley in Houston. Roberts has 20 years of industry experience and manages $309 million in assets, with annual production of $1.4 million.
