The American Council of Life Insurers is proving that some people inside the Beltway have sneakers by sponsoring its 36th annual Capital Challenge running race.

The three-mile race will start at 8 a.m. May 17 in Anacostia Park in Washington.

The race will benefit the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, a group that provides guide dogs for veterans, according to the ACLI.

The sponsors for the 2017 race include Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, Hannove Life Reassurance Company of America, John Hancock, MetLife, Nationwide, New York Life, OneAmerica, Prudential Financial, TransAmerica, USAA Western & Southern Financial, and Roll Call.

Past runners have included John Kasich, who was a representative from Ohio when he ran and is a governor of Ohio now, and Willard Scott, the weatherman, according to the ACLI race photo archive.
