Members of the Life Insurance Direct Marketing Association have elected Shervin Eftekhari to be the group’s new president.
Eftekhari will take over from Byron Udell.
Eftekhari is the president of Zander Insurance, a Nashville, Tennessee-based insurance marketing organization. Zander offers term life insurance, disability insurance and employee benefits products as well as personal and commercial property/casualty insurance products.
Eftekhari has a bachelor’s degree in history from Boston College. He started out in the insurance industry as an agent at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.
Eftekhari serves on the board of Life Happens, an insurance consumer awareness outreach program, as well as on the board of LIDMA.
He said in a statement about the LIDMA post that he hopes to help life insurance direct marketers attract capital and reach more families.
“Sadly, over 30% of the adult population has no life insurance, and many more are underinsured,” Eftekhari said.
Direct marketing is one way to help those families, Eftekhari said.
LIDMA also named three new board members.
The new board members are W. Thomas Grant II, president of SelectQuote; Denis Clifford, chief distribution officer at Savings Bank Life Insurance Co. of Massachusetts; and Eric Lester, a vice president at Legal & General America Inc.
LIDMA holds annual conferences in September and offers updates on legal and regulatory matters related to direct marketing. It’s also been working with LIMRA on developing market research projects relevant to life insurance direct marketing programs.
