Internet Pipeline Inc. has acquired Resonant Software Inc., a life insurance underwriting technology company.

IPipeline, which is based in Exton, Pennsylvania,  is a life insurance distribution system company. Its customers are life insurers, large insurance distributors and financial institutions.

Resonant, a New York company, has focused on developing a simple-to-use system for feeding underwriting guidelines into computers, and automating as much of the underwriting process as possible. It also offers built-in, automated connections to major life underwriting data vendors, such as MIB Group Inc.

Adding Resonant technology should help iPipeline customers speed up the underwriting process, iPipeline says.

Brian Falkenhainer, the founder and chief executive office of Resonant, founded the company in 2004. Earlier in his career, he spent more than four years working as a research associate at Palo Alto, California-based Xerox PARC.

The companies did not say how much iPipeline paid for Resonant.
