Genex scoops up claims assessment company

A disability management services company has acquired an independent medical examination business in the Pacific Northwest.

Genex Services, which is based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, bought Seattle-based Objective Medical Assessments Corp., Genex says.

The companies are not saying how much Genex paid.

Genex helps assess claimants and manage care for fully insured disability plans, self-insured disability plans and workers’ compensation insurers.  

Objective Medical provides independent assessments of claimants’ health and ability to function.

Objective Medical was founded by Richard Nelson, a former Washington state Medicaid director. Nelson and his son, Steffen Nelson, will continue to run Objective Management, and Steffen Nelson will become part of the Genex management team, Genex says.
