Teams at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) are giving the public a chance to help shape draft documents that could affect the Medicare supplement insurance (Medigap) and long-term care insurance (LTCI) markets.
The Health Actuarial Task Force is asking for public comments on a draft of an LTCI guidance manual. The manual gives state insurance regulators advice about how to review requests for increases in LTCI rates.
Comments are due April 1.
Another panel, the Senior Issues Task Force, is asking for comments on the model regulation change and chart changes that implement a new federal ban on Medigap plans that pay the traditional Medicare deductible.
The task force is laying the regulatory groundwork for replacing the popular, comprehensive Medigap Plan F policy category with Plan G policies. The Plan G policies would cover everything the Plan F policies cover, except for the Medicare deductible.
