The American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance (AALTCI) is putting its promotional muscle behind getting U.S. politicians to talk about long-term care (LTC) policy.

AALTCI recently put out a national press release calling for presidential candidates to talk about how they think the country should handle aging Americans’ looming “tsunami of care needs.”

Jesse Slome, executive director of AALTCI, said policymaker concern about financial security during retirement helped create the 401(k) plan and individual retirement account programs.

“Now we need to address long-term care,” Slome said.

Slome’s group is heading to Washington Oct. 27 to hold the 2015 Long Term Care Sales Summit.

Sponsors are helping AALTCI to stream the sessions live on the Web.

Rod Perkins of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) will give a legislative update presentation, and John Cutler, co-chair of the National Long-Term Care Discussion Group, will talk about some of the major LTC policy discussions already under way.

National Underwriter Life & Health, one of the publications associated with LifeHealthPro.com, is one of the three summit organizers. The others are IMS and LTC Partners.
