This week’s new recruiting includes the movement of four advisors to UBS (UBS) from Merrill Lynch as well as a family team moving to Raymond James (RJF). Also, Commonwealth Financial welcomed Vaughn Wealth to its independent network.

UBS’ News

UBS said late Wednesday that four registered reps with a total of $870 million in client assets and combined yearly fees and commissions of nearly $4.6 million have moved to the firm from Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAC).

The advisors include a team of three – Kirk Ruth, Jeff Hogue and Jeff Rizzo – as well as solo-practice advisor Michael Carr. These four reps will be working out of the recently opened UBS office in Gainesville, Florida.

Ruth joined Merrill in 1994, while Carr became part of the thundering herd in 1997 and Hogue in 2000 (after a year with Bank of America). Rizzo got his start in the industry in 1999 at First Union and moved to Merrill in 2013.

Raymond James’ Pair

Raymond James has added the husband-and-wife advisor team of Dax and Amber Seale, who joined the firm’s traditional employee broker-dealer in Dallas. The pair operates as Seale Wealth Management of Raymond James and joins from Edward Jones, where they previously managed roughly $157 million in client assets and had about $1.7 million in annual production.

In other family-practice news, Raymond James said in mid-August that Duane Raanes, CFP, and his son Brady Raanes, CFP, CFA, affiliated with the firm’s independent channel in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. They moved to Raymond James from Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, where they managed over $128 million in assets and had about $900,000 in yearly fees and commissions.

Earlier this month, Raymond James’ Investment Advisors Division recruited Sterling Russell, CFA, and Kevin Donovan to Yellowstone Partners, a Boise, Idaho-based RIA.

Russell, who has nearly 30 years of industry experience, comes on board as a director of fixed income and senior portfolio manager. Donovan, who started in the business in ’99 with Paine Webber, is now a director and executive vice president at Yellowstone.

In addition, Sage Private Wealth Group, which is affiliated with Raymond James’ independent channel, says wealth advisor Eric Kaehr, CFP, and investment manager Paul Rashin recently joined Sage from Northern Trust Securities Inc., where they managed $250 million in client assets and had annual revenue of almost $2 million.

Kaehr began his career in 2006 with Column Capital Group, a registered investment advisor based in Indianapolis; he moved to Northern Trust Securities in 2010. Rashid began his career at Northern Trust in 2005.

Commonwealth’s New Team

Orlando, Florida-based Vaughn Wealth has joined Commonwealth Financial Network’s independent financial advisors from NFP Advisor Services. T. Kevin Taylor and S. Kyle Taylor, along with their team, bring $175 million in client assets along with them in the move.

LPL Adds Indie Firm to BD Platform

LPL Financial says advisors Chad Tom and Wayne Wycoff are now using the indie BD’s broker-dealer platform for commission-based services.

The two reps launched the independent financial advisory firm Stratos Wealth Partners, based in Zanesville, Ohio, in January. (The firm uses the same name as Stratos Wealth Partners, a large enterprise and hybrid RIA firm supported by LPL through which it will provide fee-based advisory services.)

The duo serviced nearly $300 million of client assets as of Jan. 1.

Aegis Capital’s New Team

Aegis Capital hired a team of advisors away from JHS Capital Advisors in Portland, Oregon, that has given the firm an entrée into the city. The team, which includes branch manager Eric Davidson, along with Louis Baudendistel, Glen Davis, Edward Jeffery, Peter Jones, Douglas McCaslin, Matthew Miller and Asa Savage, managed more than $200 million in assets at its old home. They’ll continue to be based in Portland.
