This week in personnel announcements and new hires, Paul Lee and Robert Lawson joined Northern Trust and RBC Global Asset Management welcomed five, and Pitcairn named a new CFO.

Also, Joseph Tedone was promoted at the Phoenix Cos. and Robert Falcon joined OneSource Retirement Advisors.

RBC Global Asset Management Adds Five

RBC Global Asset Management has announced five new hires. Julia Burr has joined as head of national accounts for independent broker-dealers, based in the Boston office and reporting to Mike Refojo, head of sales for RBC GAM in the U.S. Kevin Creeden has joined as vice president, product manager, BlueBay Strategies, based in Boston and reporting to John Utter, head of client service for RBC GAM in the U.S. Randy Harrison has joined as VP, institutional portfolio manager, based in Minneapolis and reporting to Utter. Joshua Howard has joined as director of investment risk, based in Minneapolis and reporting to Mike Lee, CEO and chief investment officer. And Kyle Lortie has joined as associate VP of advisory solutions, based in Boston and reporting to Matthew Appelstein, head of U.S. sales and distribution for RBC GAM.

With 14 years of experience in financial services, Burr worked at State Street Global Advisors prior to joining. Creeden, with nearly 10 years of experience, was formerly at Pyramis Global Advisors. Harrison brings more than 25 years of industry knowledge and was formerly head of the insurance advisory group at Advantus Capital. Howard was formerly director of research at Advanced Capital Group and has held a variety of quantitative investment and consulting roles over his 15 years in the industry. Lortie earlier worked as a consultant and relationship manager with FactSet.

Lee, Lawson Join Northern Trust

Northern Trust has announced that Paul Lee has joined its wealth advisory services group as senior vice president and senior regional wealth advisor and Robert Lawson has joined as Minnesota state president. Lee is based in New York and reports to John Hoffman, head of Northern Trust Wealth Management’s greater New York region. Lawson reports to Mac MacLellan, central region president.

Lee brings more than 20 years of tax, estate planning and investment experience in both the U.S. and the U.K. Previously, he served in various roles in both New York and London for AB Bernstein Private Wealth Management. He began his career practicing law at various firms, and was a partner in the tax, estate planning and wealth protection group at Smith, Gambrell & Russell LLP.

Prior to joining, Lawson was a SVP and managing director for the Private Client Reserve of U.S. Bank in Minneapolis; prior to that, he was a VP and head of financial and estate planning at U.S. Trust in Minneapolis. Pitcairn Names Gaul CFO

Pitcairn, an innovator and leader in the family office industry, has named Eric W. Gaul as chief financial officer, responsible for directing Pitcairn’s overall financial strategy. In his new role, Gaul will oversee the firm’s finance, tax and family office services teams.  He will continue to lead the development and implementation of solutions for the firm’s growing group of single family office clients. 

Gaul reports to Leslie Voth, president and CEO of Pitcairn. He will serve as a member of Pitcairn’s leadership team, operating committee, and investment policy committee, and will also continue to serve as a central resource to Pitcairn’s client service teams on various planning matters.

Prior to his appointment as CFO, he has served in a variety of positions, most recently as managing director of Family Office Services. Earlier, he held the position of wealth management project manager, where he was instrumental in designing and implementing new processes when Pitcairn moved to its 100% open architecture investment platform. 

Gaul graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. degree in accounting. He is a chartered financial analyst, certified financial planner and certified public accountant and holds a Pennsylvania license in life insurance. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Philadelphia and the Financial Planning Association. 

Tedone Moves Up at Phoenix Cos.

The Phoenix Cos. announced that Joseph Tedone, counsel, has been promoted to vice president.

Tedone joined in 1993 as a staff attorney and held increasingly senior positions in the law department. Prior to joining, he was in practice with Schatz & Schatz, Ribicoff & Kotkin in Hartford.

Falcon Goes to OneSource

OneSource Retirement Advisors has announced that Robert Falcon has joined as a financial advisor.

Falcon has Big 4 managerial tax experience and 15 years of corporate finance and marketing experience.
