How to grow your email list

By now, we all know how important a robust, up-to-date email list is. Despite all the new-fangled ways to communicate, the humble email still dominates the field. It’s stickier than social media and more precise than a blog post. For advisors, email is one of the best ways to engage prospects, build their trust and turn them into clients. So what’s the best way to grow your list?

Online marketing expert Robbie Richards has conducted a poll of more than 60 online marketing experts to see which tools they use to grow their email lists. These top three each fill a particular need and work seamlessly together to get the job done:

LeadPages

With LeadPages, you can create attractive, actionable landing pages with little mastery or time required. Having a fantastic landing page is essential when trying to pry an email address from the fingertips of a web visitor.

Links, buttons or advertising shouldn’t bring visitors back to a main page to flounder in a sea of confusion looking for what they’re after. If people are looking for something in particular, your website should take them directly to it. And once there, they should be able to get what they want (for example, your eBook) in exchange for what you want (their email addresses) without a bunch of distractions.

SumoMe

So you’ve curated your landing pages. You’ve got popup windows poised for deployment when a visitor seems about to navigate away from your page. But how well are these website elements working?

With SumoMe, you can find out how well your pages are converting — for free. From an analytics tool to gauge how the content on your pages is being read to a heat-mapping feature which shows you where on your website the most clicks are occurring, SumoMe’s got you covered. The more information you have on how visitors are interacting with your page, the better you can tailor it to your needs.

MailChimp

Now that you’re raking in the email addresses, you must properly manage your communications. With MailChimp, you can create, send and track emails to any of your subscriber lists and even learn more about your readers by using their reporting tools.

An exhaustive email list won’t just happen by itself. These top tools (along with others) can help you keep your email list in blast-ready shape.
