LTC planning bits: Newman, AALTCI, AgentReview.net

An insurance agency subsidiary of Thrivent Financial is acquiring Newman Long Term Care, a 25-year-old long-term care (LTC) planning firm.

Thrivent is based in Minneapolis, and Newman LTC has been based in Richfield, Minn.

Deb Newman, the owner and founder of Newman LTC, says her agency will operate as an autonomous subsidiary. She will keep her current team, in the same offices.

The agency will continue to offer LTC planning products from most of the major carriers, not just Thrivent, and it will continue to offer LTC planning products through independent agents, brokers and other organizations, Newman says.

Newman LTC first formed a relationship with Thrivent in 2014, when it agreed to offer Thrivent LTC products to independent brokers.

In other LTC planning market news:

The NU Life & Health Network and Retirement Advisor magazine, affiliates of LifeHealthPro.com, have agreed to produce a live, online broadcast from the 2015 National Long Term Care Solutions Sales Summit. The American Association for Long Term Care Insurance (AALTCI) is planning to hold the conference Oct. 27 in Washington, D.C. Four insurers have agreed to sponsor the webcast, to give Web viewers free access to the presentations. The webcast will have enough capacity to serve 5,000 viewers at a time.

The managers of AgentReview.net, a new insurance agent review website, are seeking more LTCI agents for the LTCI section. The site also has auto, critical illness, disability, health, homeowners, life and Medicare supplement sections. Consumers can rate the participating agents.
