There’s nothing worse than falling asleep and then being woken up again, whether the culprit is a barking dog, a fighting cat or a scared child. How do you get back to sleep after an REM interruption like that?

A new infographic about sleeping from Dreams.co.uk gathers information from different sources such as the University of Missouri’s School of Medicine, the Harvard Health Publications, other health organizations and news pieces.

The infographic shows that more than half of women and almost half of men report being poor sleepers. It then lists a few of the things that might be keeping or waking them up at night, like restless legs syndrome and other external interruptions such as pets.

Not being able to have a restful night’s sleep can intervene with focus and concentration during the work day and lower productivity.
