New Hire Roundup: Morningstar Names Ptak Head of Global Manager Research

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, Jeff Ptak became Morningstar’s head of global manager research, iCapital Network hired Hannah Shaw Grove, Paul Eitelman joined Russell Investments, and U.S. Trust made several personnel announcements.

Also, Pete Seroka moved up at Forethought, and Wesley Long joined Index Fund Advisors.

Ptak Becomes Head of Morningstar’s Global Manager Research

Jeff Ptak, CFA, assumed Wednesday his role as head of global manager research for Morningstar, replacing Scott Burns, who took on a new role as head of asset management client solutions for Morningstar.

Ptak, who will be overseeing more than 100 manager research analysts around the world who cover approximately 4,200 equity, fixed-income, multi-asset, and alternative funds, has served as president and chief investment officer of Morningstar Investment Services for the past six years.

Before that he was Morningstar’s director of ETF analysis, editor of the Morningstar ETFInvestor newsletter, and an equity analyst. Ptak joined Morningstar in 2002 as a mutual fund analyst.

As head of asset management solutions, Burns leads Morningstar’s global business strategy and solution development for its asset management and buy-side clients. He joined Morningstar in 2004 as a senior equity analyst and has served as an associate director of equity research; director of ETF, closed-end, and alternative fund research; and most recently as head of global manager research.

Long Joins Index Fund Advisors From Wedbush

Index Fund Advisors has announced that Wesley Long has joined as executive vice president, director of wealth advisor services. He will be based in the corporate office in Irvine, California, and report directly to Mark Hebner, president.

With more than 25 years of experience in the private client and financial advisory industries, Long was most recently EVP and head of the private client services division at Wedbush Securities Inc.

iCapital Network Hires Grove

iCapital Network has announced the hire of Hannah Shore Grove as chief marketing officer.

Grove brings more than 20 years of experience as a marketer, author, media personality, family office consultant and private wealth strategist. Before founding her consultancy in 2006, she spent 16 years in investment management with positions at Merrill Lynch & Co, Prudential, Fidelity Investments and other firms.

Eitelman Joins Russell Investments

Russell Investments has announced that Paul Eitelman has joined as investment strategist, North America. He succeeds Doug Gordon, who was promoted to senior portfolio manager, tactical asset allocation strategies, and reports to London-based Andrew Pease, global head of investment strategy.

Eitelman most recently served as vice president, senior economist at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York, where he worked since 2011. Earlier, he worked at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Trust Makes Personnel Announcements

U.S. Trust has announced the following six personnel changes.

Erin Smith joined in West Hartford, Connecticut, as a senior trust officer from Fiduciary Trust Co. International; Lee Melchionni joined in Boston as a private client advisor from Wasserman Media Group; Blair Ege and Dionne Gumbs joined in Washington, D.C. as PCAs, the former from Citi Private Bank and the latter from Fisher Investments; Jackie Yoon was promoted to market executive in St. Louis, Missouri; and Robert Gibson joined in Palo Alto, California, as a PCA. He was previously a regional sales manager at Bank of America.

Seroka Moves Up at Forethought

Forethought Life Insurance Co. has announced that Pete Seroka has been named national sales manager for fixed annuity distribution.

Seroka joined in 2013 from Commonwealth Annuity as part of the integration of the companies under Global Atlantic. He has more than 25 years of industry experience.
