New Hire Roundup: Loring Ward Names Schwab’s Farasat CIO

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, Loring Ward named Payel Farasat its chief investment officer, Guardian welcomed Matthew Butler and Christopher Pic, Copper Rock Capital Partners welcomed Timothy Codrington, and Global Atlantic added Peter Cai.

Also, Taskeen Pagany was named private banker at the Private Client Reserve.

Farasat Joins Loring Ward

Investment management consultant Loring Ward has announced that Payel Farasat has joined as chief investment officer.

Farasat spent the past seven years at Charles Schwab & Co., most recently as the western regional vice president and earlier as senior manager of strategic trading. Before joining Schwab, she was a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial Inc.

Guardian Adds Butler, Pic

The Guardian Insurance & Annuity Co. Inc., a subsidiary of the Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America, has announced that Matthew Butler has joined as second vice president, head of business growth initiatives, and Christopher Pic has joined as second VP, head of 401(k) client services and operations for Guardian Retirement Solutions. Butler, who will be based in New York City, will report to Douglas Dubitsky, VP, product development. Pic will report to Gordon Bailey, CFO and head of operations, within Guardian Retirement Solutions.

With over 25 years of retirement industry experience, Butler joins from ADP, where he was VP of product planning and continuous improvement.

Before joining, Pic focused on the defined contribution industry. He was most recently VP and head of strategic programs at Ascensus. Earlier experience includes roles in operations, client service and program management with Ascensus, J.P. Morgan Asset Management and T. Rowe Price.

Codrington Joins Copper Rock

Copper Rock Capital Partners LLC has announced that Timothy Codrington has joined as a portfolio manager. He reports directly to Stephen Dexter,chief investment officer.

Prior to joining, Codrington was an associate portfolio manager on the global equity team at AGF Management Limited in Toronto. Earlier, he was a senior VP at Boston-based Putnam Investments, where he spent 11 years.

Global Atlantic Welcomes Cai

Global Atlantic Financial Group Limited has announced that Peter Cai, Ph.D., has joined as chief risk officer. He will report directly to Kim Lee, chief financial officer.

Cai has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry and most recently was managing director for Morgan Stanley. Earlier, he worked as a fixed income risk strategist for Lehman Brothers and was head of consulting for Askari. He is also an adjunct faculty member at CarnegieMellonUniversity.

Pagany Named at Private Client Reserve

U.S. Bank Wealth Management has announced that Taskeen Pagany has been named private banker for the Private Client Reserve of U.S. Bank in Chicago.

Pagany brings more than 13 years of banking and financial services industry experience to her new role. Before joining, she held private banking roles at Citi Private Bank, JPMorgan and US Trust.
