New Hire Roundup: Securities America Promotes 7

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, Russell Investments welcomed Alexandre Martin and Richard Palmer; CircleBlack named Bill Bartzak and Michael Castellano to its board; U.S. Trust announced several additions; David Beutel and Christopher Huntley joined the Mather Group; and Mike Sgobba became a partner at C&D llp.

Also, Steven Shackelford joined Aspire; Jeffrey Krupnick joined LCM Capital Advisors; Lebenthal welcomed Michael Jamison; Securities America announced several promotions; and Genworth announced the formation of an advisory council on long-term care.

Securities America Announces Promotions

Securities America has announced seven officer promotions. Kevin Miller has been promoted to EVP, general counsel; Gregg Johnson has been promoted to EVP, branch office development and acquisitions; Lori Bogatz has been promoted to first VP, operations; Dawn Gore has been promoted to first VP, enterprise project management; Kurt McDonald has been promoted to first VP, operations; Andrew Price has been promoted to first VP, IS operations; and Jeremy Robson has been promoted to first VP, advisory services.

Miller joined Securities America in 2000 as a compliance examiner and has held many roles throughout his tenure, including assistant general counsel and chief compliance officer.

Johnson began his career at Securities America in 2006 as VP of branch office development and has been in his current position as SVP since 2009.

Bogatz joined in 1997 as a rep relations specialist and has held many roles, including in cashiering, account services, as a team leader, as a manager and as director in operations. She has been in her current position as director of account services since 2009.

Gore joined in 1996, and has held a range of positions including advisory ops assistant, advisory liaison, operations analyst, process consultant and business project manager. She has been the director of enterprise project management since 2010.

McDonald joined in 2006 as margin team leader in operations. In 2007, he moved to operations manager, margin/trading/asset transfer, then later that year to director, margin and asset transfer. He has held the position of director of account management since 2009.

Price joined in 2005 as senior database administrator. He became lead architect/lead system engineer in 2008, and manager, architect/systems engineering in 2009. He has been in his current position as director of IS operations since 2011.

Robson joined in 2000 and has held roles in performance reporting and advisory services. He has been in his current role of director of advisory services since 2010.

Martin, Palmer Join Russell Investments

Russell Investments has announced the addition of Alexandre Martin and Richard Palmer to its global transition management team as addition implementation portfolio managers.

Martin joins the transition team in London from Société Générale, where he was responsible for managing complex multiasset trades. Palmer joins the Sydney transition team, bringing similar experience, having previously worked as an arbitrage/multistrategy trader at the Macquarie/Nedbank joint venture, followed by various consultant roles.

CircleBlack Names Two to Board

Financial data aggregation firm CircleBlack has appointed Bill Bartzak and Michael Castellano to its board of directors.

Castellano, with extensive executive-level experience in the financial services and wealth management industries, was formerly chief financial officer and managing director of Lazard. Prior to that, he held various senior management positions at Merrill Lynch & Co. from August 1991 to August 2001. Earlier, he was a partner with Deloitte & Touche and spent 24 years at the firm.

Bartzak is currently a member of the senior leadership team at ABILITY Network, a health care workflow services company. Earlier he was the founder and chief executive officer of MD Online, before its acquisition by ABILITY.

U.S. Trust Adds Eight

U.S. Trust announced eight January additions to its offices in different states to provide wealth management services.

Lisa Huang, formerly a senior product specialist with Bank of America, joined the New York City office as a private client manager. Matthew Haringa, formerly a financial center manager with Bank of America, joined the Hartford, Connecticut office as a private client manager. Jason Anderson joined the Glen Rock, New Jersey office from UBS Private Bank as a private client advisor. Ian Biegelsen joined the Delray Beach, Florida office from Westlake Securities as a private client advisor.

Kimberly Phillips joined the Raleigh, North Carolina office from J.P. Morgan Chase as a private client advisor. Eric Main joined the Charleston, South Carolina office from Harbor National Bank as a private client advisor. Becky Hetzer, formerly a products delivery senior underwriter at Bank of America, joined the Nashville, Tennessee office as a private client manager. Lauren Peterson, formerly a vice president in Merrill Lynch’s wealth structuring group, joined the Newport Beach, California office as a senior trust officer. Beutel, Huntley Join Mather Group

The Mather Group welcomed David Beutel and Christopher Huntley as wealth advisors, the former at the Houston office and the latter at the corporate office in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Beutel brings extensive experience, having managed his own financial services practices in Colorado and Texas over the past nine years. Huntley most recently managed client portfolios and relationships at an investment firm in Springfield, Missouri. He previously served in the Air Force for six years as a first line supervisor.

Sgobba Becomes Partner at C&D llp

Consulting alliance Alliott Group member firm C&D llp, CPAs and Advisors, has announced that Mike Sgobba has become a partner.

Sgobba began his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers as audit staff and in the financial services division. In 2010 he joined C&D as an associate, later becoming a manager.

Aspire Adds Shackelford

Aspire Financial Services has announced the addition of Steven Shackelford as SVP of strategic sales for its business process outsourcing service offering.

Shackelford joins with more than 27 years in the financial services industry. Most recently, he served in strategic and executive roles for PAi. Prior to that, he held various sales and operational leadership positions with the Capital Group and American Funds.

Krupnick Joins LCM Capital Advisors

JHS Capital Advisors’ LCM Capital Advisors has announced that Jeffrey Krupnick has joined LCM as an executive vice president, financial advisor. He will be based in Sarasota, Florida.

Krupnick brings experience in asset-based lending, estate planning, high-net-worth investing and tax planning.

Lebenthal Adds Jamison as Equities Portfolio Manager

Lebenthal Asset Management has announced the addition of Michael Jamison as a portfolio manager focusing on equities.

Before joining, Jamison was a managing director and member of the investment policy committee at Barrett Asset Management. Prior to that, he founded Jamison Prince Asset Management, which ultimately merged into Beacon Trust Company. Earlier, he was at Brandywine Global Investment Management, and was founder and CIO for PaineWebber Asset Management. He also held senior portfolio and management positions at EF Hutton & Co.

Genworth Launches Advisory Council on Long-Term Care

Genworth has announced the launch of its advisory council on long-term care. It consists of a panel of four subject matter experts in the fields of aging, caregiving, psychology and financial planning, who will serve as advocates for the importance of LTC awareness and planning by providing content to the National Advisory Center for Long-Term Care Information (NACLTCI) educational hub.

The advisory council consists of blogger Sally Abrahms; Jennifer Hatch, finance expert from Christopher Street Financial; Dr. Barbara Nusbaum, psychologist and money coach; and Dr. Bradley Wilcox, geriatrics and gerontology expert.
