This week in personnel announcements and new hires, the American Bankers Insurance Association elected new board members; Allianz Life promoted Jan Kolle; and Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management hired four regional vice presidents.

Also, Context Asset Management welcomed Andrew Wert; NewOak named Triet Nguyen managing director; and the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation named Dr. Robert Hartwig to its national board of governors.

ABIA Elects New Board Members

The American Bankers Insurance Association announced that it has elected new officers and directors to serve on the 2014–2015 board. The new officers are Kirk Jensen, managing director and senior executive, First Niagara Risk Management Inc., Rochester, New York, president and chairman; Dario Campolattaro, chief executive officer, Summit Community Bank, Leesburg, Virginia, vice president; David Seidel, vice president and actuary, Securian Financial Group, Inc., St. Paul, Minnesota, secretary; and Brian Duffy, president and chief operating officer, RSI Insurance Agency Inc., Rahway, New Jersey, treasurer.

Incoming board members are J. Mark DeLoach, senior vice president and director of PNC Insurance Services, PNC Bank, Charlotte, North Carolina; Todd Ellis, president, Sandy Spring Insurance Corp., Glen Burnie, Maryland; Phil Latvis, vice president and insurance agency manager, Mascoma Savings Bank, Lebanon, New Hampshire; Ray Smith, executive vice president, Renasant Bank, Tupelo, Mississippi; James Stuncard, vice president of insurance programs, Dollar Bank, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Sara Webb, vice president, BB&T Insurance Services, Raleigh, North Carolina; and Ron Zickert, executive vice president of sales, Affinion Group, Franklin, Tennessee.

Kolle Promoted at Allianz Life

Allianz Life Insurance Co. of North America announced that it has promoted Jan Kolle to senior director of organizational sourcing and vendor management in the organizational sourcing and re-engineering division.

Kolle joined in 2013 as a vendor relationship manager in the organizational sourcing and vendor management area. Prior to that, he was a director for more than 10 years in the HR supply chain management area at Unisys Corp. in Eagan, Minnesota. During his more than 20-year tenure with Unisys, he also held various director and managerial roles.

Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management Adds Four

Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management announced that it has hired Theresa Brennan, Steve Darby, Gavin McIntire and Tim Whelan as regional vice presidents to support its U.S. ETP platform. They report to Mick McLaughlin, head of passive distribution in the Americas.

Brennan covers the northeast. Based in Boston, she has nearly 20 years of industry experience and was most recently a business development executive at NT Flexshares.

Darby covers the greater New York area and is based in New York. He brings over 15 years of experience and was most recently a business development manager for the ETF business at Russell Investments.

McIntire covers the mid-Atlantic. He previously spent 10 years at ProShares Advisors, where he was a regional vice president.

Whelan covers the southeast. Previously, he was an investment management consultant for BlackRock’s iShares platform.

Context Asset Management Adds Wert

Andrew Wert has joined Context Asset Management as managing director and senior portfolio manager for single-manager funds. He reports to John Culbertson, managing director and chief investment officer, and also serves on the investment committee.

Prior to joining, Wert founded Cohesion Capital LLC; he also spent five years as managing director of absolute return investments at the Brown University investment office in Providence, Rhode Island. He also worked for 10 years at BNP Paribas, where he was a senior proprietary trader and later head of active portfolio strategies for North America.

NewOak Names Nguyen Managing Director

NewOak has announced the appointment of Triet Nguyen as a managing director in its corporate and municipal credit solutions group.

With 32 years of experience, Nguyen was most recently founder and managing partner of Axios Advisors LLC. Prior to that, he was a senior vice president at B.C. Ziegler. From January 2004 to January 2008, he was a managing partner at Saybrook Capital LLC. Between 2000 and 2001, he was director of information services at ebondUSA.com. Prior to 2000, he was a vice president and portfolio manager of the John Hancock Funds and a senior portfolio manager of the Putnam Funds.

Hartwig Named to IICF’s National Board of Governors

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation has announced that Dr. Robert Hartwig has been named to its national board of governors.

Hartwig, president of the Insurance Information Institute, joined III in 1998. Prior to serving as president, he was III’s chief economist. Earlier, he worked as the director of economic research at the National Council on Compensation Insurance and as a senior economist at Swiss Reinsurance Group.
