New Hire Roundup: SEC Names Schnurr Chief Accountant

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, Robert Bowman joined Snowden Lane Partners; U.S. Bank added Wilkinson and Scheinert; Gregory Samios went to Wolters Kluwer; and Nancy Rimington joined GW&K Investment Management.

Also, Mariner Holdings announced personnel changes; the SEC has named James Schnurr as its chief accountant; Kim Lew joined the board of trustees at Ariel Investments; and Pensionmark announced a new group affiliation in Pittsburgh.

Schnurr Named Chief Accountant at SEC

The SEC has announced that James Schnurr has been named chief accountant, effective this October. He will replace Paul Beswick, who joined the SEC staff in September 2007 and has served as its chief accountant since 2012.

Schnurr recently retired from Deloitte LLP, where he was vice chairman and senior professional practice director and specialized in financial and SEC reporting for public companies. He began his career at Deloitte in 1975 and became a partner in 1985. He was a senior partner for mergers and acquisition services from 1994 to 2002 and a deputy managing partner of the firm’s professional practice from 2002 to 2009.

Snowden Lane Partners Welcomes Bowman

Wealth advisory firm Snowden Lane Partners has announced that Robert Bowman has joined as partner and managing director.

Bowman, who spent 31 years at Merrill Lynch, was most recently managing director for Merrill in Philadelphia. He started there as a financial advisor and moved into management, where he subsequently served in a number of positions, including regional director of the mid-Atlantic region and national sales manager.

Wilkinson, Scheinert Join U.S. Bank’s Private Client Reserve

U.S. Bank has announced that Christopher Wilkinson has been named vice president, wealth management consultant for the Private Client Reserve in Phoenix and Dean Scheinert has been named wealth management consultant for the Private Client Reserve in Phoenix.

Wilkinson has a background in finance with 30 years of experience in investment management, private banking, risk mitigation, estate planning and administration for high-net-worth families, business owners and private foundations. Prior to joining, he was executive vice president and chief investment officer for Finemark National Bank & Trust in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Scheinert joins from J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he served as executive director responsible for client development and relationship management for ultra-high net worth clients.

Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory Solutions Names Samos

Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory Solutions announced that it has named Gregory Samos president and CEO of Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, effective Sept. 8. He succeeds Robert Lemmond in the post.

Samos joins from Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, where he was president of health programs. He also held senior executive positions in professional publishing at Reed Elsevier, including president of the medical education and communications division Excerpta Media, and senior vice president of strategy and development for Elsevier Health Sciences.

GW&K Adds Rimington

GW&K Investment Management has announced that Nancy Rimington has joined as vice president, institutional business development. She will initially be based in the firm’s Boston headquarters but will lead West Coast sales efforts.

Rimington joins from Numeric Investors LLC, where she was director, North American business development, West Coast. She was also previously director of institutional business development and client service at Hoover Investment Management Co. LLC.

Greiner Moves Up, Caplinger Joins Mariner

Mariner Holdings has announced that William Greiner will move from chief investment officer at Mariner Wealth Advisors to chief investment strategist at Mariner Holdings. Mark Caplinger will succeed him as CIO of Mariner Wealth Advisors.

Caplinger, with nearly 30 years of industry experience, joins from Summit Strategies Group in St. Louis, where he was a senior vice president in the firm’s consulting department. His past experience also includes serving as CIO of the Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois and as CIO of the Public School Retirement System of Missouri.

Lew Joins Trustees at Ariel

Ariel Investments, advisor to Ariel Investment Trust, has announced that Kim Lew has been appointed to its board of trustees.

Lew is vice president and co-CIO at Carnegie Corporation of New York, a private foundation established in 1911 by Andrew Carnegie. She joined the Carnegie Corporation in 2007 as director of investments. Prior to that, she worked at the Ford Foundation for 13 years, starting out as equity analyst and later rising to senior equity analyst, portfolio strategist. She then moved from the public to the private equity side as manager of private equity investments in January, 2000. Before joining Ford, she worked in the private placement group of Prudential and in the middle market banking group of the former Chemical Bank.

Pensionmark Adds New Group in Pittsburgh

Pensionmark Retirement Group has announced that Axios Advisory Group has affiliated with the firm in Pittsburgh to become the new Pensionmark Pittsburgh location.

Kevin Buckley and Mero Capo are the managing directors of the new office. Their firm has been offering retirement plan services for over 35 years.
