Some of us have watched a lot of the episodes of the Discovery Channel’s show Deadliest Catch, a reality TV show about fishing ships in Alaska during the crab fishing seasons. Watching the documentary-style TV show, you realize that the fishing crew is in constant danger while trying to perform its job (as if the title wasn’t enough of a tip-off).
And you have to wonder: How do these men get life insurance, since their occupations have such high injury and death risks? According to an infographic provided by Easy Life Cover, an insurance company based in Ireland, fishermen and fishing workers, like those on Deadliest Catch, perform the second deadliest job in the United States, with a fatality rate of 117 per 100,000 full time workers.
