Advisors: Are you failing or failing to persist?

Over the years, I’ve spoken to thousands of sellers who want to take their careers to the next level.

And many of them have certain traits in common: They tend to be disorganized, they question their ability to succeed, and they have no idea how they intend to get where they want to go.

Almost all lack one of the most crucial traits of a mega-producer: persistence. They try one technique or strategy after another.

They read a book, put into practice what they have learned and, when it doesn’t immediately produce results, discard it and go on to the next thing. They don’t allow themselves to practice and develop a new skill but instead give up because they aren’t immediately getting the results they want.

Selling is both an art and a science. Like anything else in life, it takes time to learn and develop a new skill.

If we sincerely desire success, we must allow ourselves time to practice and develop the skills required to succeed. Persistence is required to develop any skill, and sales skills are no exception.
