Managers of the state-based public health insurance exchange in California are thinking about how the exchange will work with Web-based agents and brokers.
Covered California has put out a “request for information” about the topic that could eventually lead to a formal request for Web agent proposals.
The exchange already works with traditional off-line agents.
The board recently agreed the exchange could look int the possibility of working either with Web-based brokers that would connect the exchange directly with consumers, or with platforms that would connect the exchange with traditional independent agents and brokers.
The exchange also could combine the two approaches, according to exchange managers.
