New Hire Roundup: BlackRock Names Jones CIO for Americas Stocks

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, Robert Schneider joined the Phoenix Cos., Matthew Welch was named chief operating officer by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, and Christopher Jones joined BlackRock.

Also, Shane Conlon joined Sibson Consulting and Laurie Deaton went to Kayne Anderson Rudnick.

BlackRock Names Jones CIO for Americas Stocks

Christopher Jones has joined BlackRock Inc. as chief investment officer for stocks in the Americas. He replaces Chris Leavy, who is on medical leave, and will also serve as global co-head of fundamental equity with Nigel Bolton, head of BlackRock’s European equity team.

Jones was a managing director and CIO of the growth and small-cap U.S.equity team at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. He began his career at Robert Fleming & Co., which was was bought by Chase Manhattan in 2000.

Phoenix Cos. Taps Schneider to Manage Comp Programs

Robert Schneider has joined the Phoenix Cos. as second vice president, compensation. He reports to Jody Beresin, senior vice president, administration, and will manage both general and executive compensation programs for the company.

Schneider was previously director of global compensation and executive benefits at the Barnes Group. Earlier in his career, he held increasingly senior positions in compensation and benefits areas at UST Inc., Chemtura Corp., Praxair Inc. and Southern New England Telephone.

Welch Joins SASB as COO

Matthew Welch has joined the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board as chief operating officer. In this role, he will oversee the financial oversight, human resources and operations functions, and he will drive the development, monetization and marketing of SASB products and programs.

Welch has held various leadership roles with impact-driven organizations in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. He was COO at Junyo and held the senior operating role at Kaplan K12 Learning Services. His expertise includes launching new revenue streams and increasing the efficiency, effectiveness and profitability of operations.

Conlon Joins Sibson Consulting

Sibson Consulting announced that Shane Conlon has joined the firm as a vice president and senior retirement consultant.

Conlon has nearly two decades of experience as a human resources and retirement consultant, mostly with Deloitte Consulting in New York. He has worked with major law firms, professional sports organizations and higher education institutions designing and implementing benefits, rewards and retention and retirement incentive programs.

Kayne Anderson Rudnick Welcomes Deaton

Kayne Anderson Rudnick Investment Management, an affiliated manager of Virtus Investment Partners, announced that Laurie Deaton has joined the institutional client services team as director, institutional sales. In this role, she is responsible for representing the firm’s investment management strategies to institutional clients and consultants in the Wwestern U.S. She reports to Stephen Rigali, executive vice president.

Prior to joining, Deaton was a principal at Hall Capital Partners, where she was responsible for business development and institutional sales. Earlier, she was with Loomis, Sayles & Co. and Wellington Management Co., where she worked with institutional investors and their consultants throughout the Western U.S. She began her investment career at Pacific Enterprises.
