This week in personnel announcements and new hires, the American College named Linda Need chairwoman of its board of trustees, Hy Saporta was named chief operating officer at Steward Partners Global Advisory, and Brett Loper joined the Bipartisan Policy Center.
Also, Amrit Walia was named head of internal sales for Hartford Funds and Prof. Jeffrey Haas was elected chairman of the board of trustees for American Independence Funds Trust and American Independence Funds Trust II, while Terry Carter was named an independent trustee for American Independence Funds Trust II.
Need Named Chairwoman of American College Board
The American College has announced that Linda Need was named chair of its board of trustees. Need, currently senior vice president and managing director of life insurance for Wells Fargo Advisors and head of the national life insurance practice for Wells Fargo Insurance Services USA Inc., is the first chair named from the banking industry.
Previously, Need worked for Bank of America, where she held several leadership roles in insurance and investment management. Most recently she represented Bank of America’s broker-dealer on the Merrill Lynch transition team. Prior to Bank of America, Need held various insurance and annuity sales, marketing and actuarial positions at Morgan Stanley, Allstate, Tillinghast, and Northwestern Mutual.
Hy Saporta Joins Steward Partners
Steward Partners Global Advisory LLC has announced that Hy Saporta has been named COO and managing director. Saporta, a founding partner of the recently launched firm, will report to Mike Maurer, CEO.
Most recently, Saporta was chief operating officer for Citigroup’s global learning and development division. Prior to Citigroup, he was a managing director at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and a member of the firm’s management committee.
Former Boehner Chief of Staff Joins Bipartisan Policy Center
The Bipartisan Policy Center has announced that Brett Loper is joining as a senior advisor.
