Love is in the air or maybe it’s a low-pressure system building in the atmosphere. Do you feel as giddy as I do about Fabulous February?
Perhaps I shouldn’t have had that second Red Bull after all.
Whatever the reason for the joy, I want to introduce you to the “best of” list. Each month in this column, I’ll offer a list of things for you to apply, do, think, see, listen to, etc.
With this being February, the month of Valentine’s Day, the best of list offers plenty of wise words on how to show your clients the love they deserve. It’s also a time to take stock in how your new year is progressing. Read on. Enjoy.

Podcast: Wall Street Journal This Morning. Clocking in at 30 minutes, it’s a great source to grab the first news of the day whether you listen while walking on the treadmill or driving to work.

Marketing tip: Use an online event registration system. If you host events, eliminate phone and e-mail RSVPs, and, instead, use an online registration system. Using a system like this helps reduce the number of “no shows” and improves the follow-up process, both common headaches when hosting events. I’ve been working my way through Block’s seventeen Matthew Scudder detective novels and “Ginmill” may be my favorite. 
This latest incarnation of the world’s greatest detective is one of the best so far and much more palatable than the ridiculous Hollywood version starring Bob Downey Jr. Whether you find it on Hulu or elsewhere, track it down. As actor Benedict Cumberbatch said about playing Holmes: “There’s a great charge you get from playing him, because of the volume of words in your head and the speed of thought—you really have to make your connections incredibly fast. He is one step ahead of the audience, and of anyone around him with normal intellect.”
