Economic growth beats expectations, but consumer spending still low

GDP growth pre-government shutdown is a positive, however, we realized the slowest-expansion in consumer spending in two years, which will work to stymie the country’s struggling recovery. Higher taxes and slow wage growth are to blame for the anemic consumer spending.
