Two West Coast states say their state-based public exchanges have been busy.
Covered California released Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act exchange activity data for the week and 25-day period ending Oct. 26.
Covered California says exchange users started about 51,000 applications during its fourth week of operation. The exchange was averaging about 43,000 application starts per week during the first three weeks of operations.
The exchange call centers received 53,282 calls, which is close to the four-week average. The average caller wait time fell to 3 minutes and 38 seconds, from a four-week average of 4 minutes and 27 seconds.
The number of insurance agents certified to help with enrollment increased to 3,143, from 2,304 a few days earlier. The processing of another 15,907 agent applications is still in progress.
Similarly, the exchange has certified 619 enrollment counselors, up from 390 last week, but 4,213 would-be exchange counselors are still in the certification pipeline.
