New Hire Roundup: Marvin Davis Goes to Edelman Financial Services

This week in personnel announcements and new hires, Marvin Davis joined Edelman Financial Services; Michele Buck was elected to the board at New York Life; and Lisa Parry Howard and Kathleen Parsons joined New York Private Trust Co.

Also, OneAmerica named Patrick Foley president of individual life and financial services, and Gemini added new trustees to the boards of two of its trusts.

Edelman Financial Services Welcomes Davis

Edelman Financial Services announced that it has hired Marvin Davis as chief marketing officer.

With more than 25 years of experience in consumer marketing, Davis previously served as chief marketing officer at LifeLock, where he was responsible for the company’s marketing programs, strategic partner sales and product and strategy units. Prior to that, he was a senior vice president and CMO of Comcast. He also served as Verizon’s vice president of advertising and brand management.

Buck Elected to New York Life’s Board

New York Life announced Monday that Michele Buck was elected to take a position on its board of directors, effective Nov. 1.

Buck is president, North America, for the Hershey Co., and previously served as senior vice president and chief growth officer. Prior to that, she was the company’s global chief marketing officer. Before joining Hershey in 2005, Buck worked in consumer marketing and operations management with Kraft and Nabisco, and began her career as an assistant product manager with Frito-Lay in 1987.

New York Private Trust Co. Adds Howard and Parsons

New York Private Trust Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Emigrant Bank Corp., announced that it has appointed Lisa Parry Howard as managing director, chief compliance officer, and Kathleen Parsons as vice president, senior trust officer. Both will be based in the Wilmington, Del., office.

Howard was previously with Wilmington Trust, a subsidiary of M&T Bank Corp. Along with significant experience in the trust and financial services industry, she specializes in the areas of trust regulatory and fiduciary compliance. Earlier, she was with SEI Private Trust Co., the Vanguard Group and PNC Financial.

Parsons was formerly at The Advisory Trust Company of Delaware. A 25-year trust industry veteran, she began her career at Wachovia Bank in corporate trust operations and subsequently transitioned to corporate trust administration. In 1997, she joined SEI Trust Company, where she served in various roles including project management, client trust system conversions, and management of a client relationship team. Most recently at Advisory Trust, she administered personal trust accounts, including charitable and supplemental needs trusts and private foundations.

Patrick Foley Named ILFS President at OneAmerica

OneAmerica announced recently that it has named Patrick Foley the next president of individual life and financial services (ILFS) for the OneAmerica companies. In that role, he will lead all the individual lines of business for the OneAmerica companies, including the career agency system and CareSolutions asset-based long-term care distribution channels.

Foley joins from Genworth Financial, where he served as president, distribution and marketing, and led their multichannel distribution platform of life, annuity, long-term care, linked benefit products and all strategic marketing programs for the firm’s US life companies. Prior to that, he held senior level roles at Allianz Life ofNorth Americaand Prudential.

Gemini Names New Board Trustees

Gemini Fund Services LLC announced Tuesday that it has appointed new Trustees to the independent boards of one of its shared mutual fund trusts, Northern Lights Fund Trust I (NLFT I), and its variable insurance trust, Northern Lights Variable Trust (NLVT). Mark Garbin, Mark Gersten and Andrew Rogers, CEO of Gemini, have been appointed trustees.

Garbin, with more than 30 years of experience, created and grew Constellation Financial Management Co. LLC, which was purchased by Société Générale. He also developed Bankers Trust’s first global custody capability, and served as head of new products for Pilgrim Group of Mutual Funds and as North American head of equity derivatives for Rabobank.

Gersten spent 26 years in a variety of executive positions at AllianceBernstein, including senior vice president of global fund administration.

Rogersbegan his career in the mutual fund sector 22 years ago. Prior to joining Gemini, he served as a vice president, compliance officer and accounting manager at JPMorgan Chase for four years.
