Unemployment falls but hiring slows

Hiring slowed in September with the economy adding 45,000 fewer jobs than it did in the previous month. The unemployment rate, however, still managed to fall. The weaker than expected hiring was interpreted by many analysts and investors as a sign that the federal government will continue its bond buying (quantitative easing) program which drove stocks prices up.
