The results are in: Investment Advisor magazine polled independent investment advisors to determine the top broker-dealers (BDs) for 2013. With more than 4,000 votes counted, four broker-dealers rose to the top.
The BDs were ranked in four categories based on the number of producing representatives. The annual poll, now in its 23rd year, is overseen by Investment Advisor's editorial staff. Credentialed voters are asked to rate their own broker-dealers in 15 different categories. The BDs that receive the highest average rating from their representatives are named Broker-Dealers of the Year.
This year's top vote-getters are:
- Division IV (more than 1,000 representatives): Cambridge Investment Research
- Division III (500 to 999 representatives): Investors Capital Corp.
- Division II (200 to 499 representatives): Geneos Wealth Management
- Division I (up to 199 representatives): Century Securities
"Despite economic uncertainty and market volatility — and the heavy, expensive hand of regulators — these broker-dealers received the blessing of their reps for their valued partnership in difficult times," said John Sullivan, Editor-in-Chief of Investment Advisor, in a statement.
