About 1,500 agents and brokers in Maryland have expressed an interest in working with Maryland’s health insurance exchange.
The agency building the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act exchange, the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, said it will hold a producer information meeting at 2 p.m. July 24 in Baltimore.
The MBHE is hoping to authorize a total of 2,000 to 4,000 producers to sell the “qualified health plans” and dental plans that will be available on the Maryland Health Connection.
The MHBE is working to start individual exchange operations Oct. 1 and small-group exchange operations Jan. 1, 2014.
To qualify to sell QHPs and exchange dental plans, a producer must submit an application, get training, and go through a credentials verification process, officials said.
