PPACA contractor hiring in Colorado, Kentucky

Xerox Corp. (NYSE:XRX) could add 1,000 seasonal employees in Colorado by the end of the year and about 100 employees in Kentucky.

The new employees would help staff Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) exchange call centers in Greeley, Colo., and Lexington, Ky.

The call center workers will take calls from consumers who want to enroll in health plans through the new exchange system or change their coverage, the company said.

“We’re just stocking up now, and we’re moving positions into Colorado that will be year-round,” said Kelly O’Brien, recruiting director for Xerox Services.

The Colorado positions pay $9.75 an hour to start, plus incentives.

The new Xerox workers in Kentucky will handle questions from consumers about the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange.

Gov. Steve Beshear told the Associated Press that federal funding will cover the cost of starting the call center, staffing it and training the employees through next year.

Officials expect the call center to go into operation by Aug. 15.

The Kentucky call center is supposed to handle e-mail queries and social media queries as well as telephone calls.
