This week in new hires, Kara Getz joined the Senate Finance Committee as tax counsel; the Investment Company Institute named Michelle Mesack director, financial services policy; and Roberto Roffo went to Advisors Asset Management.
Also, Allegiance Marketing Group added five to its sales team, the Internal Revenue Service named four to assist its new acting commissioner, and OneAmerica promoted John Mason.
Senate Finance Welcomes Kara Getz as Tax Counsel
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., named Kara Getz as tax counsel for the committee, where she will work on taxation and pension issues.
Getz joins the committee from the office of Rep. Richard Neal, D-Mass., where she was tax counsel and legislative director, advising the congressman on taxation, pension and budget issues. Prior to joining Neal’s office, she was chief counsel for the Senate Special Committee on Aging for Chairman Herb Kohl, D-Wis. Before that, she served as tax counsel for Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., for almost four years. Getz also has experience in the private sector.
Mesack Named Director, Financial Services Policy at ICI
The Investment Company Institute announced that Michelle Mesack has joined as director, financial services policy. She will report to Donald Auerbach and Dean Sackett III, chief government affairs officers and co-heads.
Mesack joined from the Mutual Fund Directors Forum, where she served as counsel, managing outreach to Congress and advocating for the forum’s policy positions before regulatory agencies. Prior to that, she served as an associate with K&L Gates’ investment management practice group. Earlier, she worked as a legislative assistant to Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill., and as legislative analyst for the House Republican Conference.
Advisors Asset Management Appoints Roffo
Advisors Asset Management announced that it has hired Roberto Roffo as senior vice president and portfolio manager to expand its tax-exempt management capabilities, primarily with municipal fixed income strategies. He will be based in the firm’s Princeton, N.J., office.
With more than 20 years of portfolio management experience, Roffo served for seven years as the managing director/senior portfolio manager of SMC Fixed Income Management. Earlier, he was the managing director at Claymore Advisors and director for Merrill Lynch Asset Management.
Allegiance Marketing Group Announces New Additions
Allegiance Marketing Group has announced five new additions to its sales team.
Michael Seabolt has joined as vice president of business development. Previously, he was president of Bolt Capital Consultants.
